Membership/Organization
|
- The Women’s Impact Fund is a non-endowed, donor-advised fund of Foundation For The Carolinas.
- Our goal is to create a new pool of funds from women interested in becoming philanthropists through the power of collective grantmaking.
- Membership will be comprised of a minimum of 100 women.
- Each member commits $1,200/year for five years ($1,000/year to the pooled fund for community grants, $200/year for administrative costs).
- We are governed by a board of directors and senior advisory board of women who are active, committed and experienced community leaders. Board committees include: Communications, Development, Education, Finance, Grants, Membership, and Special Events.
- All members of the Women’s Impact Fund will have the opportunity to be as involved in committee work as they wish. Every member will have direct participation in grant making by having a vote on all proposed grants.

Grantmaking Guidelines
|
- We will seek projects and programs that address emerging community issues or apply creative, substantive solutions to critical community needs.
- We will focus on high-impact grants in Mecklenburg County with a minimum grant size of $40,000.
- The grant review process will be organized according to the following categories: Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services.
- Grant recommendations will be based on research, community collaboration and a thorough grant application process.
- A ballot will be issued to allow members to vote on a slate of proposed grants; therefore, final grant-making decisions will reflect the diverse interests of our membership.

- Making high-impact grants to meet critical community needs across five targeted areas, reflecting the diverse interests of our membership;
- Engaging in proactive, participatory grantmaking, where every member has a voice in how funds are directed and
- Inspiring philanthropy through direct engagement and education of women in grantmaking.
With collaboration as a key core value, The Women’s Impact Fund will:
- Seek the expertise and guidance of key community organizations in our research, grantmaking and education activities and
- Coordinate education events and activities with key community organizations.
