What We Do

The purpose of the Women’s Impact Fund is to engage and educate women in philanthropy to strengthen our community. Through membership and grantmaking, the Women’s Impact Fund provides significant resources to help address emerging issues and meet critical needs in the areas of Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Health and Human services.  Since the Women’s Impact Fund was founded seven years ago, we have grown to approximately 450 women and have committed over $2.1 million to 29 non-profit agencies in our community. We are making an impact with our funds and our involvement.

Why Join?

Women join WIF for a variety of reasons -

• be part of a collective giving effort that maximizes their philanthropic investments,
• meet like-minded women who have a vested interest in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community,
• learn more about the needs of our community, and
• make friends and network with other women.

Whatever the reason you have to join, you will find that the WIF provides a unique opportunity to introduce you to the community, address its needs, give back, get informed and make new friends.  We welcome all women, regardless of age, gender, income, political views, race, religion, or lifestyle. 

Your Commitment

As a member, you make a five-year commitment of $6,000, payable annually in the amount of $1,200. Of this amount, $1,000 goes directly into the grant pool; we use $200 for member education and program expenses. All members vote on the projects funded each year from our grant pool. This is a unique and innovative way to support your community and have a greater impact.  Your investment and involvement  secure the future of this exciting organization and have a positive impact on our community.
