Letter from Board Chair
August, 2011
There is an African proverb that states, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
This proverb exemplifies what the Women’s Impact Fund is all about. Starting with the vision of two amazing women, Mary Lou Babb and Claire Tate, this organization has grown to more than 400 members and given away over $2.1 million to 29 organizations in just 7 years. Wow, just look at what we have accomplished together!
When women unite, incredible things happen. We represent the new voice in philanthropy today. Our Women’s Impact Fund is a shining example around the country of what is possible in local communities. Our members are passionate and deeply engaged in learning about the critical needs in Charlotte Mecklenburg and addressing them. The Women’s Impact Fund is improving the quality of life and strengthening our community through grantmaking.
Our members are empowered by our hands-on grants process that enables us to connect and see the human faces that our gifts affect. The experiences we share through collective giving create a bond among our members that enriches our lives, our families and our community. Through collaboration and commitment, we celebrate the impact we have made in the lives of others.
If you are a Women’s Impact Fund member, let me say a heartfelt thank you! If you are not a member, we invite you to bring your passion, share your treasures and join the fun. Together, we will surely go much farther.
Thank you.
